Conformance status
This website conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA across all public pages, and substantially meets Level AAA with documented exceptions. The site has been independently audited and remediated; the full audit report is available on request.
Specifically, we test for and meet:
- Proper semantic structure with landmarks (main, navigation, banner, contentinfo)
- Keyboard accessibility for all interactive elements, including a working skip-to-content link
- Color contrast ratios above 4.5:1 (typical ratios on this site exceed 17:1)
- Descriptive alternative text on images, including the photo archive and sponsor logos
- Properly labeled form fields with required-field markers and accessible error states
- Touch-target sizes of 44 × 44 pixels minimum on mobile breakpoints
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting in operating systems and browsers - Screen-reader announcements for dynamic elements like the live event countdown
Standards we follow
- W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Levels A, AA, and AAA
- WAI-ARIA 1.2 Authoring Practices for interactive components
- HTML Living Standard semantic landmark specification
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, where applicable
Known limitations
We are transparent about gaps. The following items do not yet meet our internal target of full Level AAA conformance, with planned remediation timelines:
- Video captions. Our 2025 event recap video on the homepage does not currently include closed captions or a transcript. Planned remediation: WebVTT caption track by June 1, 2026.
- Formal screen reader user testing. While the site has been technically validated, a sighted-operator session with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver has not yet been conducted. Planned: prior to event launch in July 2026.
- Color blindness simulation. Visual review suggests no failures, but a formal simulation through deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia filters has not been performed. Planned: Q2 2026.
Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers including NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), and VoiceOver (macOS, iOS)
- Voice recognition software including Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Voice Control
- Operating system zoom and browser-level page zoom up to 400%
- Reduced-motion preferences and high-contrast modes
- Modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (latest two major versions)
In-person event accessibility
Beyond the website, the event itself takes place at the Mississippi Museum of Art, which is fully ADA accessible. The Art Garden venue offers paved pathways, accessible restrooms, and reserved seating. The host hotel, the Westin Jackson, is a AAA Four-Diamond property with full ADA-compliant rooms and amenities. For specific accommodation needs — mobility assistance, dietary restrictions, sensory considerations, sign language interpretation, or any other support — please contact us at least two weeks before the event so we can ensure a great experience.
